I decided to do more experimenting with water media and textures. The paper got a first layer of gesso, taped to a board. Then I added watercolors and then white and colored gesso over the top, stippling with a brush. A little pink acrylic touched on with a palette knife finished it off.

The watercolor sits on top of the gessoed surface so you can move the pigments around with a brush. The white gesso layer of texture unifies the composition somewhat, and tones down the harsher edges if desired.

It’s nice to take a break from other painting work. Watercolor is so fluid, and I like a more transparent look now and then as I paint.
