Seeing the world through Periwinkle-colored glasses

The holidays are a time for cheer, but seem always to find us with challenges in life, from small ones to monumental. Art has always been a little place of refuge for me. Shapes dance on a page, colors intermingle, and pattern creates movement and spark until an image seems to take on a life of its own. When the real world looks like a tough place, it might be time to take an art break to another world.

Maybe this is one of the joys and benefits of art in our lives. Call it an escape or the pursuit of joy. I find myself running away to fanciful towns like this one. There’s a certain magic in shapes on the primitive side, a challenge to choose just the right color to fit in a certain spot.

May you find a bit of joy in art this season. What color are your glasses? I picked periwinkle blue tonight.

blessings,

Karen
